Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 4, 2026 · Applies to the DropHEIC website and the DropHEIC Chrome extension.

The short version

Your photos never leave your device. All conversion (HEIC, WebP, AVIF → JPG/PNG) happens locally in your browser using WebAssembly. We do not upload, store, inspect or transmit your files — we technically can't, because there is no conversion server.

What we collect

• Photos and files: nothing. Files are processed in your browser's memory and are discarded when you close the tab. No file contents, file names or metadata are ever sent anywhere.
• Email address (optional): if you voluntarily join the Pro waitlist, we store the email you submit, the date, and where the form was submitted from (website or extension). We use it solely to notify you about DropHEIC Pro and your discount. No marketing lists, no resale, no third parties.
• Usage counters (local only): the extension keeps a local counter of how many files you converted, stored in your browser's extension storage. It is used only to decide when to show the waitlist invitation and never leaves your device.

What we don't do

• No analytics or tracking scripts on this site or in the extension.
• No cookies (the site is static).
• No ads, no data sale, no fingerprinting.
• The extension requests a single Chrome permission (storage) and cannot read your browsing history or page content.

EXIF metadata

Converted files currently do not carry over EXIF metadata from the originals. This means location (GPS) data embedded in your photos is stripped from converted copies. Your original files are never modified.

Waitlist data removal

To have your email removed from the waitlist, contact us at dmitri.tyuryaev@gmail.com and we will delete it within 7 days.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with an updated effective date.
